Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated:
1. Introduction and scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the developer of Dayclipse (“we,” “us”) handles information when you use the Dayclipse mobile app for Android and iOS (the “App”) and this website (the “Site”). We are responsible for the processing described here. You can contact us at godomainz@gmail.com.
Dayclipse is designed so that its core purpose — calculating the Sun and Moon for a place you choose — happens entirely on your device. The App does, however, use two Google Firebase services, described below.
2. Information we collect or process
Stored only on your device
- The city you select and your favorite cities.
- Your settings (for example time format, angle notation and which cards are shown).
- AR Sky View alignment preferences.
- Simple counters used to decide when to show a rating invitation (for example, the number of app launches).
- Flags recording that a one-time analytics event has already been sent.
This information is not sent to us.
Collected through Google Firebase when you are online
- Firebase Analytics: the App sends two one-time events — when the location selection screen is first shown and when the home screen is first shown. These events contain no city, coordinates or other content you enter. The Firebase SDK also automatically collects standard information such as an app instance identifier, app version, device model, operating system version, language, approximate region (derived by Google from your IP address), and automatically recorded events such as first open, app updates and session information. On Android, the SDK may also collect your device's advertising ID if it is available.
- Firebase Crashlytics: if the App crashes or encounters an unhandled error, a crash report is sent containing technical details such as the error and stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version, device state (for example orientation and available memory) and a Crashlytics installation identifier.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address or account details — the App has no accounts.
- We do not collect GPS or other precise device location.
- We do not collect camera images, photos, video or audio.
3. Location information
The App does not request location permission and does not read your GPS position. You choose a city from a list built into the App, and the App calculates the sky for that city's coordinates. Your chosen and favorite cities are stored only on your device and are not included in analytics events or crash reports.
Google may infer an approximate region (such as a country or city) from your device's IP address when Firebase services connect, as part of their standard operation.
4. Device permissions and sensors
- Camera: requested only when you open AR Sky View, to show a live camera preview behind the Sun and Moon markers. Nothing is recorded, saved or transmitted. You can decline and use the sensor-only view.
- Compass (magnetometer) and motion sensors: used on your device to point the Sun and Moon dials and the AR overlay in the right direction. Sensor readings are not stored or transmitted.
- Location: not requested. On iOS, compass headings are read without location authorization.
5. Usage analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people install the App and reach its main screens, so we can improve it. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles. The App contains no advertising.
6. Third-party services
- Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google LLC (and Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA and UK). Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Play and the Apple App Store distribute the App and may collect information under their own policies. If you choose to leave a rating, the App uses the stores' built-in review prompts; ratings and reviews are handled by the store.
- Your device's share sheet: when you tap Share, the App creates an image and passes it to the app you choose. What happens next is governed by that app.
7. How we use information
- To provide the App's features on your device.
- To diagnose crashes and fix bugs (Crashlytics).
- To measure, in aggregate, App installs and use of the main screens (Analytics).
- To respond when you contact us by email.
8. Data storage
Information described as “stored only on your device” is kept in the App's local storage and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Analytics and crash data are stored by Google on its servers. Emails you send us are kept in our email account.
9. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Analytics and crash data are processed by Google as our service provider. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
10. Retention and deletion
Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of our Firebase project, within the periods Google offers. Crashlytics keeps crash reports for a limited period (Google currently documents 90 days) before deleting them. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
You can delete all on-device data at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling it. To ask us to delete data associated with your device, email godomainz@gmail.com.
11. Security
Firebase data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by Google's security measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what we collect to reduce risk.
12. Children's privacy
Dayclipse is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact godomainz@gmail.com and we will delete it.
13. International data processing
Google may process analytics and crash data in the United States and other countries. Where data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, Google relies on recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
14. Your US privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others with consumer privacy laws), you may have rights to know what personal information we process, to access or obtain a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To exercise your rights, email godomainz@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
15. Your rights in the EEA and UK
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the App stable (Crashlytics) and understanding basic usage (Analytics), and on your request when we reply to your emails. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise these rights, email godomainz@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
16. Your choices
- Use the App offline: all astronomy features work without a connection, and Firebase only sends data when you are online.
- Deny camera access: AR Sky View offers a sensor-only mode.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
- Clear the App's data or uninstall it to remove everything stored on your device.
17. This website
This Site is a static website. It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels or embedded third-party media, and it loads its fonts and images from the same site. Like any website, our hosting provider may automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the Site. Links to app stores take you to third-party sites governed by their own policies. When you point at, focus or tap the App Store button, your browser asks Apple's public lookup service (itunes.apple.com) for the Dayclipse listing address; Apple receives that request, including your IP address.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as the App or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
19. Contact
